Our Recommendation
Diamond Performance Dog Food is designed for very active and hardworking dogs. At 30% protein and 20% fat this is definitely a dog food that is not for dogs that have low activity levels.
- Good choice for raising puppies or feeding pregnant or nursing dogs.
- Chelated minerals and antioxidants for enhanced nutrient absorption and immune support.
- Omega fatty acids from fish oil and flaxseed keep skin and coat shiny and healthy.
- Specially balanced formulation increases endurance and energy.
- Dried beet pulp encourages good digestion.
- Glucosamine and chondroitin support cartilage and joints.
- Contains no artificial colors or flavors.
This is not my favorite Diamond dog food because it lacks probiotics and contains corn and wheat. If your dog likes some traditional grains and is highly active, there are worse dog foods out there. Given the choice, I would feed the Diamond Extreme Athlete over this because it is close to the same price and has no corn or wheat but does have probiotics.

Transition Instructions
Gradually replace your dog’s food with Diamond Performance Formula over a 7 day period. If you have a dog that has a tendency to be sensitive to food changes, you can increase the transition period to 14 days.
The Bottom Line
Diamond Performance is a minimal ingredient high protein and fat dog food for very active and hardworking dogs. While it does contain beet pulp to help with digestion, it contains no probiotics. The addition of corn and wheat to this formula means it is not for dogs that have grain sensitivities or pet parents that really want to avoid all grains when feeding their pooch. It can be fed to puppies and nursing mothers so that is a plus.
Since it offers such concentrated energy, less cups can be fed per day. Those that want to store some extra dog food might want to consider this formula since you can fit more calories and nutrition in less space.
